Director of Security Policy and Strategy, American Electric Power

Kate Mabbett is the Director of Security Policy and Strategy at American Electric Power. She is tasked with developing AEP’s external cyber security policy positions while focusing on growing and maintaining key partnerships with state and federal governments as well as fellow electric utilities. Additionally, she manages the internal penetration testing team as well as the NERC CIP Controls Management team for security and technology. Based in the Washington, D.C. area, she previously served at the Department of Defense focused on cyber operations and spent several years as a security vendor serving critical infrastructure customers.
